Munich Airport Day Rooms & Layover Guide

Munich Airport has three paid options for rest during a daytime layover: day rooms at Hilton Munich Airport, Napcab sleeping pods rented by the hour in Terminal 2, and the Mountain Hub Spa at the Hilton, a short walk from both terminals. Behind security in Terminal 2, free recreation areas with lounge chairs are open 24 hours.

Day rooms at the Hilton

Hilton Munich Airport stands between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 and is the only full-service hotel within walking distance of both. The hotel sells day-use rooms with a shower and Wi-Fi; its own site does not publish the hours, and day-room booking sites list them for about 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Book directly with the hotel or through day-room platforms such as Dayuse or HotelsByDay; availability can be limited on busy travel days.

Day guests can also buy access to the hotel’s Mountain Hub Spa, which has a heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room: a 2-hour ticket costs 29 euros (35 euros at weekends and on public holidays), a day ticket 49 euros (55 euros), and a shower card 15 euros. The spa is open 7:00 am to 10:00 pm on weekdays and 8:00 am to 10:00 pm at weekends and on public holidays. The gym is open 24 hours to hotel guests.

Munich Airport runs showers in the Munich Airport Center (Level 03) and in Terminal 2 at gates G and H (Level 03) and gates K and L (Level 05), at 25 euros plus a 20-euro deposit, with keys and towels issued at the Service Centers. Lufthansa lounges in Terminal 2 admit eligible passengers, and Airport Lounge World in Terminal 1 (gates A, Level 04) sells entry online from 72 euros.

What to do by layover length

With up to four hours, stay airside: Terminal 2 has Napcabs, showers and the free recreation areas. With four to eight hours, the options are a Hilton day room or spa ticket, or the Visitors Park: take the S-Bahn one stop to Besucherpark, then walk about 800 metres (10 to 15 minutes) to a 28-metre viewing hill (1 euro entry). Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are linked on foot through the central Munich Airport Center. Under the Schengen rules, passengers connecting from outside the Schengen area clear passport control at the first Schengen airport; if that is Munich, allow time for queues at peak morning hours.
