Munich Airport has three places to sleep without leaving the airport area: Napcab sleeping pods in Terminal 2, free recreation areas with lounge chairs behind security in Terminal 2, and hotels on the airport campus or a short ride away. The S8 S-Bahn runs all night. Which one to use depends on how long you have and how much rest you need.

Napcab sleeping pods in Terminal 2

Napcabs are enclosed single-bed cabins with a mattress, ventilation, power sockets, and a touchscreen for booking and payment. At Munich Airport they are located in Terminal 2: airside near gate G06 (Schengen, Level 04), gate H32 (non-Schengen, Level 05) and gate L04 (non-Schengen, satellite, Level 05), plus two cabins in the public (landside) area on Level 03 near the Service Center. Airside cabins are for passengers who stay behind security between flights.

Napcabs charges 17 euros per hour from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm and 12 euros per hour from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am, with a minimum charge of 34 euros per stay, billed by the minute. Sleeping in the terminals for free

Munich Airport’s recreation areas in Terminal 2, behind security at gates G and H and at gates K and L (Levels 04 and 05), have lounge chairs, USB charging and flight monitors; they are free and open 24 hours. Landside, the Munich Airport Center links the two terminals; the airport does not publish overnight opening hours for it, so confirm on site. Expect bright lights, cleaning machines, and announcements: bring an eye mask and earplugs. Baggage trolleys cost 2 euros in the departure areas and are free in the arrival areas. To sleep without your bags, use left luggage in the Munich Airport Center (Level 03, daily 5:00 am to 11:30 pm) or in Terminal 2 at gates G and H (Level 03, daily 6:00 am to 10:00 pm). When to book a hotel

For layovers of eight hours or more, or a night before an early departure, a hotel gives you a bed and a private shower.
